Diogenec staff have:

  • Developed organizational and operational concepts for homeland security training and deployment for federal medical personnel -- an ongoing engagement with the Office of the Secretary of Defense, U.S. Northern Command, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.
  • Created Joint/Interagency Civil Support (JICSTIC) at Fort Dix, NJ, providing training to DoD, VA, and other Federal departments in medical aspects of homeland security and weapons of mass destruction.
  • Instituted Army Reserve Physician Assistant Training Program.
  • Conceptualized and hosted "Every Crisis is a Human Crisis," a seminar held at Georgetown University addressing the disproportionate impact of disasters and the roles, responsibilities, and liabilities of government and corporate leadership and governance. Discussion panels consisted of recognized subject matter experts led by former Surgeons General Koop, Satcher, and Carmona.

  • Created a degree program in operational medicine, the core of a new school in national security studies within a major research university.
  • Developed and delivered a course in domestic medical intelligence for a state department of health.

 

Preparedness and Risk Communication

  • Developing, implementing, and testing hospital emergency preparedness and response plans for Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center in Brooklyn, NY and HSC Pediatric Center in Washington, DC.
  • Providing education concerning anthrax threat, prophylaxis, and treatment to uniformed Public Health Service response teams, regional referenece laboratory staff, and others in support of the CDC effort following the 2001 postal anthrax attacks.
  • Developing force health protection programs for the military.
  • Furnishing strategic planning, product development, and marketing services advice to an interactive wellness, health education and promotion, and population health surveillance consortium including expert advice on content and delivery mechanisms for health promotion, medical and dental readiness, mental health, and support resources for military members and their families.
  • Conducting webinars on pandemic influenza preparedness for the financial sector in the state of Georgia and the Association of Independent Maryland schools.
